Te Hokinga

Tangi a te ruru,
kei te hokihoki mai e.
E whaka-whero-whero
i te putahitanga.
Nāku nei ra koe
i tuku kia haere.
Tēra puritia iho
nui rawa te aroha e.

Verse, sung twice
Te Hokinga Mai,
tēna koutou
Tangi ana te ngākau
i te aroha
Tū tonu ra te mana
te ihi o nga tipuna
kua wehea atu rā
Mauria mai te mauri tangata
hei oranga o te mōrehu
tangi mōkai nei
E rapu ana i te ara tika
mo tātou katoa.

Te Hokinga Mai,
Te Hokinga Mai

Tū tangata tonu!

The cry of the morepork
keeps coming back to me.
It is hooting out there
where the paths meet.
I was the one
who allowed you to go.
It was curbed,
my deep love for you

But now the formal return home;
greetings to you,
How my heart weeps
with joy.
Still standing tall is the prestige
and the enchantment of the ancestors
who have passed on.
Bring back the true spirit of the people
to help heal the survivor
crying like a slave (i.e. with loneliness)
and searching for the true path
for us all.

Te Hokinga Mai!
Te Hokinga Mai!
Stand tall!

Tennis

For the next few weeks our tamariki will be receiving tennis coaching from two tennis coaches. Our tamariki were pretty reluctant about the whole thing but after the first session there were really pumped for the next session. If you wanted to come along and watch your tamariki we will on the back basketball court at 9:30am every Tuesday.

Rippa Rugby

On Thursday we had a Rippa Rugby session with Rhys, a Manawatu Turbo. He taught the tamariki all kinds of skills so that they could play in the up-coming competition. If you would like your tamariki to participate in the Rippa Rugby tournament ask for a notice at the office.

Matauri

Ki roto i te akomanga o 14, e ako ana mātou ki te mahi tētahi matauri. Anei te mahi toi o Rawhiti. Ka rawe!
We learnt how to make a silhouette this week. The tamariki stuck pictures of things that they liked or told us something about them.

Meet 'n' Greet

Kia ora whānau it was lovely meeting so many of you at the Makino Pools. If I didn't meet you and you would like to say 'kia ora' or 'hello' to me then you can come in to class anytime from 8:15am onwards.

Whiti - Fitness

This term we are really wanting to improve our fitness so you will find our tamariki out on the court in front of Room 14 doing various exercises. They are currently doing some relays to get fit and help them with their hand and eye co-ordination.

Mathletics

Kia ora e te whānau,
We have Matheltics up and running now at school. If you have paid your mathletics fee then your child's account has been activated. We have made the goal to get our class into the top 100 classes in the world. You kids will be keen to get on with their homework tonight and hopefully for the rest of the year.

Camping

                                                            CAMPING
In the holidays I went to Newine with Wendy to go camping.

The first thing I did was the program. We played some games and the first game was poison ball. We also did some arts and crafts and some sports.

Then I went down the water slide and I did some flips. I went down really fast. I did some rolls and I went around really fast and it was really, really fun.

I liked going camping.

GOING TO WELLINGTON

In the holidays I went to Wellington on Christmas day. I went there with my Nan Koko and my uncles .

Firstly we stopped at the airport to pick up my uncle, my aunty and my cousin, they took awhile.

Then we went to the pools, it was a lot of fun. We were doing ‘manus’ and diving.

After that we went home and had a mean feed. We had chicken, pork, stuffing and more. After our kai we all went to the lounge and they started singing maori songs.

Lastly we opened heaps of presents, it was fun.
